Body fat is a dormant form of energy and provides calorie to the body. It also offers a cushioning function for the joints and skeletal structure and serves as a medium in protecting internal organs from external impacts as well. To maintain an optimal level of body fat is a core issue of total health management. However, accumulating excess body fat cells will result in overweight and obesity. Obesity makes our body vulnerable to various diseases such as diabetes, cardiovascular diseases, heart attack and some forms of cancer. Body water helps us staying healthy by regulating body temperature and moving toxins and metabolic waste out of the body cells. It carries nutrients, oxygen, enzymes, hormones and glucose throughout the body and cushions joints, organs and helps strengthening muscles. Average adults carry about 50% water in total weight. The range varies from 50 to 70%. Lack of water intake for daily need leads to chronic dehydration. This can cause many illnesses to the body. Asthma, arthritis, sclerosis and diabetes are among the popular diseases. Obesity also means low water level since fat cells carry very little water.
